Working Mom

I took a job to become a better mom. You don't hear those words a lot, do you? I think there are people that are meant to be full-time homemakers and I am not one of them.

I didn't work for about 6 months when I was pregnant and we were moving from Alabama to Ohio. I found myself sitting in my stretchy pants, eating lots of chocolate, and basically ignoring all the housework I had to do. I did spend lots of time with Maya (this was before Reili was born) and we had a lot of fun. I just think I got into a rut. I think the ultimate solution for me was to get a part-time job.

I need structure. Not structure created by me (which doesn't seem to exist) but structure created by someone else thus making me have to organize the rest of my life. This may only make sense to me, but there it is. I get more things done the busier I am.

Overall, I'm happier. I have a good balance of work and home. I also get to interact with adults on a regular basis. This makes me feel like my IQ isn't dropping by the second.

I can completely comprehend what you're feeling...

I totally understand. When I was off for that three weeks it was horrible. I had no structure. I am doing better now that I have structure. I need forced structure. :)

I was not cut out to be a stay-at-home mom, either. But lucky for me, by the age of 3, KB was not cut out to be a stay-at-home kid either. She needed school and structure to ward off the boredom as much as I needed work and structure.

Oh, I totally understand! I am such a procrastinator! I need to be forced to do just about anything. However,full-time work was too much for me with two kids. I think part-time is the way to go. I've yet to find the perfect schedule, but I'm happier now that I work part-time.
